Campus Ministry

With campus ministry, our goal is to help develop the total Catholic person in a total Catholic environment. At Bosco Catholic Schools we believe that the healing power of the sacraments and a strong devotional life bring about a true relationship with God and His Church.

We encourage our students to take advantage of opportunities such as the following:

Coffee and Catholicism: Meets every Wednesday during lunch. Students enjoy a cup of coffee and time to visit. We do talk about faith at some point, but a lot of the time involves just causal conversation and seeing how their weeks are going. For the faith aspect, students each share a God moment (a moment where you noticed God or him speaking to you). 

 

NCYC: Don Bosco takes a group of students to NCYC  (National Catholic Youth Conference) in Indianapolis every other November.  At NCYC, students enjoy a variety of faith-related speakers, Mass, adoration, and team-building activities. High school students gather from across the United States for this conference where thousands of teens encounter Christ.  

 

Youth Group: A few Wednesdays a month, this group meets from 6:15-7:45. Students in 8th-12th grade have the opportunity to join the youth group. Participants enjoy food, fellowship, and friendship. These time together generally includes a fun activity (such as playing the Wii) and an element of faith (for example reading a scripture passage and talking about it). 

Class Retreats: High school students participate in a class retreat every year. These retreats take place during a school day and allow students to take a step back from their busy academic life, spend time in prayer, and grow in authentic friendships with their peers. Retreats will be held offsite starting in the 2024-2025 school year thanks to a generous St. Katherine Drexel Grant from the Archdiocese of Dubuque.

 

Women's Lenten Group: During Lent, high school girls have the opportunity to join a Lenten small group during their Advisory time. The group meets once a week to discuss the Lenten devotional that they pray through each day on their own.
