Scholarships by Due Date

Due in September:

  • College Raptor $2,500 Scholarship. Students ages 16 and older; essay required.
  • Distinguished Young Women Scholarship. Female freshmen through seniors and must take part in on-stage competition. Open now - representative will make contact about deadlines.
  •  Gates Scholarship  Deadline Sep 15.  Provides last-dollar scholarship funding (meaning it will cover cost of attendance that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution as determined by the FAFSA) to outstanding minority students from low-income backgrounds  * Started by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2018 the scholarship will fund 300 students per year totaling 3,000 students over the life of the program 

Due in October:

  • AES Engineering Scholarship.  Offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.  Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.  You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.  Value is $500.  Deadline Oct 8. Submit 500 to 1000 word essay to scholarships@aesengineers.com
  • Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.  Achievement-based $20,000 scholarship awarded to 150 students annually  * Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.    Deadline Oct 31.
  • Heisman High School Scholarship Weblink    Deadline Oct. 31.
    Eligibility begins with maintaining a weighted GPA of 3.0 (B average) or better. Applicants also need to be proven leaders and role models within their school and community. And applicants must participate or have participated in grades 9, 10, or 11 in at least one of the sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games or the National Federation of State High School Associations.  A $1,000 college scholarship will be awarded to one senior male and one senior female from each state. The 12 National Finalists are selected from 100 State Winners, made up of six senior males and six senior females from each of the six geographic regions below and will receive a $2,000 Scholarship. A judging panel will select one senior male and one senior female from the 12 National Finalists as National Winners and will receive a $10,000 Scholarship.

  • Horatio Alger Iowa Scholarship. Seniors with minimum 2.0 GPA, be involved, and demonstrate critical financial need.  Family income under $55,000 a year. Opens August 1. Due October 25
  • Horatio Alger National Scholarship   - Seniors with minimum 2.0 GPA, be involved, and demonstrate critical financial need.  Family income under $55,000 a year. Opens August 1. Due October 25
  • U.S. Bank Scholarship Sweepstakes ($5,000-$20,000). Seniors enrolled in at least 6 college credit hours. Due October 25
  • Voice of Democracy   Deadline is Oct 31.   Requires audio tape on the topic. Who’s eligible: 10th, 11th & 12th grade students. What’s offered: A $20,000 prize for winning the national essay competition. Students must submit a 3 to 5 minute audio cassette recording of a personal essay. The essay theme changes yearly. There are cash awards for local, district and state competition winners. One winner for every 15 entries at local VFW Post. Apply through local VFW post.

Due in November:

  • Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Competition. Senior (do not need to be related to an Elk member). 500 four-year scholarships are awarded. Range between $1000 to $12,000 a year.  Opens Aug. 5.  Applicants select from a list of the Lodges closest to their home address zip code. Please have your students choose Waterloo Lodge #290 as their sponsoring Lodge. Complete details can be found at enf.elks.org/MVS.   Due November 15.
  • Hagan Scholarship   Deadline is Nov 15.      a) graduate from a public high school located in a county having fewer than 50,000 residents, or b) graduate from a remote rural school located in a county having more than 50,000 residents.  To help high-achieving students from small towns and rural areas. Must have a 3.75 GPA.  Must have worked 240 hours before August 2021. EFC on FAFSA must ot exceed $6,500
  • Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association Jerry Woods Scholarship. Senior entering community college or technical school building trades program, including concrete technology and practice. Deadline is Nov. 30.
  • Kibbie Grant (Iowa Skilled Workforce Shortage Tuition Grant)    https://www.iowacollegeaid.gov/KibbieGrant   Eligible candidates are Iowa residents enrolled in specified career or technical education programs at Iowa community colleges.  The maximum Kibbie Grant award is one-half of the average Iowa community college tuition and mandatory fees per year for up to two years of education.   • Prudential Spirit of Community Award. Open to All grades 9-12. To recognize students in high school grades who have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service.  Created in 1995 by Prudential and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).  Student must have engaged in volunteer activity that occurred 12 months prior to the application, and submit a completed application to their school or head of an official designated local group.   Administration will vote on school representative once application is submitted. Due November 4.
  • Ron Brown Scholarship (early deadline). African American senior with academic excellence and commitment to public service. Due November 1
  • U. of Iowa Advantage Iowa Award - Based on merit, contributing criteria also includes students that are from historically underrepresented populations (African American, Hispanic, Native American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Multiracial) at the University of Iowa or participation in a federally funded Upward Bound program.  There is no separate application.  Complete the FAFSA by Dec. 1  is recommended. $2,000 to $8,000 per year and renewable for 4 years.
  • U. of Iowa Need Based Academic Award - A student's eligibility is determined after they are admitted to the University of Iowa and the Office of Financial Aid has received the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) results. Offers are made on a first-come, first-served basis.There is no separate application. The filing deadline for FAFSA maximum aid consideration is December 1, 2020.
  •  U. of Iowa-IMAGES - Iowa Minority Economic Grant for Academic Success  File FAFSA by Dec. 1. This university and state need-based grant is offered to Iowa residents pursuing their first undergraduate degree who are African American, Latino/Hispanic, Asian, Pacific Islander, American Indian, or Alaskan Native and demonstrate financial need. You must be enrolled at least half-time (six hours per semester) and may receive this grant for a maximum of eight semesters. You must also file your FAFSA by the priority deadline of December 1. In the event there are reductions in state funding for the University of Iowa, support for institutional scholarships and grants may be impacted. If that happens, academic offers may be reduced within the academic year.
  • Walmart Associate Scholarship. Senior and employee of Walmart. Must be employed part-time or full-time with any division of Walmart for at least six consecutive months prior to the application due date for the award period in which the associate is applying. Deadline - open Nov 1 through Nov. 29
  • Wells Fargo Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities. Senior with identified disability
    • Restricted to applicants that have hearing, learning, physical or visual disabilitiy. Have a  3.0 GPA. Deadline is Nov 28..

Due in December:

  • AXA Achievement Scholarship (Equitable Excellence Scholarship)Demonstrate courage, strength and wisdom as shown by community impact through volunteering.  Seniors; only first 10,000 applicants will be considered. Opens September 1. Due December 15
  • BadCredit.org Wealth Wise Scholarship. Seniors and undergraduate students, 3.5 GPA, looking to have a career in the finance industry (finance, accounting, business, etc.). Requires an essay.  Deadline Dec. 31. 
  • Bright Scholars of Iowa (Iowa State University)Senior attending ISU with outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Have achieved success in the face of adversity.  Due December 1 (including FAFSA).
  • Bright Scholars of Iowa (University of Iowa). Senior attending University of Iowa with outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Have achieved success in the face of adversity. Due December  (including FAFSA).
  • Burger King Scholars Program. BURGER KING℠ McLamore Foundation.  Seniors with minimum 2,5 GPA . Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000. Eligible students will attend college or post-secondary vocational/technical school  * Recipients selected based on their grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities and community service . Opens October 15. Due by December 15
  • Education and Training Voucher (ETV) Grant. This Grant provides up to $5,000 per year to students who age out of foster care and students adopted after age 16. Due December 1
  • Great Clip's Cosmetology Scholarship. Senior entering cosmetology. Due March 1.
  • Iowa Association of Counties Scholarship. Due Dec. 4. Parent must work for an Iowa County.
  • Iowa State University "MVP" - Multicultural Vision Program Scholarship. The MVP scholarship is a four-year, full tuition award for 100 multicultural Iowa high school students. MVP is more than just a scholarship; it's a learning community of students.  Deadline is Dec. 1.
  • ISU Christina Hixon Opportunity Award. Senior attending ISU and shows financial need per FAFSA (Application to ISU and FAFSA must be submitted by December 15) - this is a half-tuition scholarship! Due December 15
  • Iowa State University College of Engineering Scholarships   Iowa residents: $1,500/year, Domestic non-Iowa residents: $3,000/year, Guaranteed* for 2 years(4 semesters) if selected.  Must have an ACT composite of 28 or higher/SAT Combined score of 1300 or higher or high school GPA of 3.70 or higher, excluded from eligibility if Automatic Merit criteria is already met,  Deadline is Dec. 1
  • Soy Scholarship - The Soy Scholarship is a $5,000 one-time scholarship award presented to a current, eligible high school senior planning to pursue a degree in agriculture at an accredited college or university. Must be a child or grandchild of an ASA member. The scholarship is managed by the American Soybean Association (ASA). Opens in Oct.  Deadline is Dec. 31.
  • Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarships. Open to all students involved in the fight against hunger (Food Drives or volunteer for pantries/soup kitchens, etc.). Due December 5.
  • UNI - Sally Gearhart Strottman Memorial Scholarship in Elementary Education. Senior, attending UNI, planning to major in elementary education, ACT Composite of 26 or greater OR RAI of 325 or greater. Must do the UNI General Scholarship application at UNI Scholarship Application   Deadline is Dec. 1.
  • United States Senate Youth Program. Deadline is December 14.   Juniors or seniors interested in history and/or politics and have a leadership position within the school (student council, NHS, etc). Each year, our state sends two students to Washington D.C. for a week in March to work with/learn from some of our elected officials. Students also receive a $10,000 scholarship

Due in January:

  • America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship.   Must have 2.50 GPA. Must plan on majoring in Agriculture related field. Worth $1500. Do not have to be an FFA member to apply. Opens Nov. 1. Deadline is Jan. 14.
  • APIASF General Scholarship. Senior of Asian or Pacific Islander ethnicity, 2.7 GPA or have earned GED, and complete the FAFSA. Due January 22.
  • Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity.  $2,500 scholarships to seniors who personify high character and ethical behavior in their leadership and contributions to their communities and schools * ONLY ONE STUDENT MAY BE NOMINATED FROM EACH SCHOOL;    . Deadline is January 13.
  • Bright Scholars of Iowa (University of Northern Iowa). Senior attending University of Northern Iowa with outstanding academic achievement and financial need (check specific criteria online). Due January 15 (includes FAFSA filed by same date).
  • Bright Scholarship - ISU - Deadline Jan 11

    The Bright Scholars of Iowa award is available to entering freshman who will graduate from an Iowa high school and exhibit outstanding academic achievement as well as qualify for a Federal Pell Grant. Outstanding academic achievement is defined by: Top 10% of graduating class; OR RAI Score of 299+; OR ACT Score of 28+ (the ACT Superscore is ok). Priority is given to 1st Generation students (both parents of student do not have a college 4-year degree). The amount of the scholarship is equal to the cost of attendance less all other gift aid (including Pell Grants, institutional grants and scholarships, and private scholarships). The award is renewable for up to three additional years. ISU gives about 20 Bright Scholarships per year.  Please submit an essay detailing your commitment to learning and community service and describe how you have succeeded in the face of adversity.

  • CAPS Scholarship for students attending UNI - Deadline is Jan 15Complete the UNI Scholarship Application by January 15 of your senior year.  This online application offers the opportunity to apply for hundreds of UNI scholarships conveniently located within one application. By identifying that you will be a CAPS program completer you will receive a minimum of $1,000* ($250 per year, renewable for four years).  Students must check the "CAPS completer" box within the UNI Scholarship Application to self-identify.
  • Coolidge Presidential Foundation Scholarship (full ride). Juniors with academic excellence, an interest in public policy, and have displayed service.  only a few students are named Coolidge Scholars each year, one hundred of the top Coolidge Scholarships applicants are named “Coolidge Senators.” Coolidge Senators are invited, all-expenses-paid, to partcipate in the Senators Summit that takes place each summer in Washington, D.C.  Opens in Oct.   Due January 20
  • Courageous Persuaders Commercial Scholarship. Create 30-second television commercials on the dangers of underage drinking and texting while driving.  All grades 9-12 can apply. Due January 31
  • DAR - Daughters of American Revolutionary War Scholarship - 1000 word Essay required. Has General Scholarships available and also Scholarships for descendants of DAR members. Deadline is Jan. 31.
  • Elks National Foundation Legacy Award. Senior and child or grandchild of living Elks member. January 31
  • FFA Scholarship Program. Senior entering Ag program; do NOT have to be in a FFA chapter for all scholarships. Opens Nov. 1.  Deadline is Jan. 14
  • Foot Locker Scholar Athletes. Seniors planning to attend a 4-year college and participate in at least one high school sport. Must have GPA of 3.0. Opens September/October 2019.  Deadline is Jan. 3.
  • GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program.  Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.  Opens about October 15.  Deadline Jan. 6.
  • Hispanic Scholarship Fund - Opens up Jan. 1st.   Deadline is Feb. 15.   Have a 3.00 GPA.  Be of Hispanic background.
  • Government Finance Officers Association Scholarship. Senior interested in pursuing a career in state/provincial or local government finance. Opens October 21.  Deadline Jan. 4.

  • ISU Beta Sigma Psi Scholarship-Daryl Jahn - Beta Sigma Psi is a faith-based, Christian fraternity at Iowa State. The fraternity is offering three $2,000 scholarships to Lutheran men attending ISU in the fall of 2020. Membership in Beta Sigma Psi is not required. More information is available atISU Beta Sigma Psi Scholarship  Deadline is Jan 5 or March 20.  Two deadlines available.
  • ISU FIRST Students of Iowa Triangle Scholarship  The Iowa State Triangle Scholar-Leader Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship for freshmen and sophomore men enrolled at Iowa State in engineering, architecture, and science majors. The ideal candidate demonstrates credible academics, passion for their field, leadership and community involvement. Applicants must be a male enrolled in STEM/Architecture major, an incoming transfer, freshman or sophomore full time student, have evidence of sound academic achievement (above a 3.0 GPA), and commitment to community improvement i.e. philanthropy or extra curricular leadership.   • JFK Profile in Courage Essay. All grades 9-12. Due January 14    The Profile in Courage Essay Contest challenges students to write an original and creative essay that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. The maximum word count is 1,000 with a minimum of 700, not including citations and bibliography. The first-place winner receives $10,000. Second-place receives $3,000.   • National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholarship Program  * Recognizes distinguished scholastic, leadership and citizenship attributes of high school student athletes  * Applicants must have met academic criteria (see application), have participated in two sports for at least two years in each, and earned one varsity letter in each of two sports  * For full criteria and to apply: 2021 NIAAA Scholar/Essay Application  Deadline is Jan. 13.
  • Point Foundation Scholarship. Senior attending a four-year college, identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community, has strong academics and financial need.  Opens Nov. 1.  Deadline is Jan. 25.
  • Porch Skilled Trade & Technology Scholarship.  - Deadline is Jan. 15.  Must plan on majoring in new trade, develop skills and technology, or start a small business related to home services offered by Porch. Must have at least 3.40 GPA. Winners will be drawn at random after the application deadline has ended.  Seattle-based Porch is a home services platform that simplifies home management for homes. We make moving easy, complete improvement projects, take care of common home maintenance and repair task.
  • Ron Brown Scholarship. Senior that is Black/African American, excels academically, exhibits exceptional leadership potential, involved in community service, and has financial need. Due January 9,

  • US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship ($1,000). Senior. Due Jan 22. Each year, the U.S. Junior Chamber International (JCI) Senate Foundation grants $1,000 scholarships. Requires a 500 Word Personal Statement Essay.
  • U. of Iowa-Bill Mertens Memorial Daily Iowan Scholarship ($5,000/year & renewable).  Deadline Jan. 31. Senior planning to attend the University of Iowa and willing to work in the Daily Iowan newsroom.
  • U. of Iowa - Strayer-Rairden Scholarship at Univ. of Iowa Department of Physics and Astronomy. Senior entering this department at Iowa. Due January 31
  • University of Northern Iowa Department of Art Scholarship. Senior attending UNI and entering Department of Art. Due January 15, 2020.

  • 4-H Scholarships. Senior. Some scholarships are for those entering ag-related field and some aren't. Deadline is Feb. 1.  Only one application needed for all 4-H Scholarships. Requires two Reference letters. Apply online at 4-H Application Scholarship Online link
  • Alliant Energy Innovation Scholarship. Deadline Feb 15. Senior, GPA of 2.5 or higher, and parents are customers of Alliant Energy. Requires 300 word essay. Opens December 1. Deadline Feb 17.
  • AFA (Alzheimer's Foundation) Teens Scholarship Essay. Seniors. Due Feb 15.Write a 1,200 to 1,500-word essay that describes the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on themselves, their families or their communities

  • American Hotel and Lodging Foundation Scholarship ($500-$2,000). Senior and entering hotel and lodging major; 2.0 GPA.
  • American Meteorological Society Freshmen Undergraduate Scholarship. Deadline is Feb. 7 Seniors interested in studying atmospheric and related sciences.
  • U. of Iowa Bright Scholars Award.  Deadline Feb 15.   -Awarded to entering first-year Iowa residents who exhibit outstanding academic achievement, qualify for a Federal Pell Grant, and demonstrate a commitment to learning and community service, as well as have achieved success in the face of adversity. Preference is given to students whose parents have not graduated from an accredited four-year college or university. Apply on the University of Iowa Scholarship Portal beginning December 1.  Be in the top 10% or equivalent of high school graduating class OR have a 299 Regent Admission Index score or higher OR have an ACT composite of 28 or above OR GPA of 3.7 or higher.  Renewal is possible for up to an additional three years.
  • Catholic Daughters of America (CDA) National Education Contest. Deadline is about Feb 15. Categories are Essay; Poetry; Art; Computer Art; Music; Photography. You may submit entries in multiple categories.
  • Conservation Districts of Iowa Conservation & Agriculture Scholarships  Deadline Feb 12.   Scholarships ranging from $300-3,000 to graduation Iowa seniors who will be pursuing program of study in any field of agriculture or conservation  * For more information and to apply visit http://cdiowa.org/get-involved/scholarships/
  • Daughters of the American Revolution (multiple scholarships - general, medical/nursing, history/political/government). Due February 15
  • Davidson Institute Fellows Scholarship. Students 18 or younger as of Oct. 1, 2019. Due February 12, 2020
  • ECI REC - East -Central Iowa Rural Electric Coop  -  has a Youth Tour opportunity Washington, D.C. Deadline to apply is Feb 26. Must be a Junior in HS. To be eligible, students must have parents who are member-consumers of ECI REC.
  • Elks Legacy Award. The Legacy Awards program begins on September 1st. Legacy Awards provide $4,000 scholarships for children and grandchildren of dues-paying Elk members. The ENF offers a total of 350 national awards. The application deadline is February 5. Please visit enf.elks.org/Leg for more details and the application link.
  • Iowa Environmental Health Association Scholarship  * $500 scholarships (renewable once) * Eligible seniors will study in an environmental health major or related field  * Iowa Environmental Health Association Scholarship ApplicationDeadline Feb. 1.
  •  Farm Bureau Scholarship.   for Black Hawk County and for the State Scholarship.  Deadline is Feb 3  Must be a child of an Iowa Farm Bureau member.   Have a 2.50 GPA. Requires an essay on agriculture. Submit application to your County Farm Bureau office. 
  • Future of Iowa Agriculture Corn Growers Scholarship  - Deadline is Feb. 1. 16 $1,000 scholarships are awarded. Parent or student must be a member of Iowa Corn Growers Association. Student must be choosing a major that will contribute to the Agriculture industry. Requires references and an essay. 
  • HACER National Scholarship (through Ronald McDonald House Charities). Deadline is Feb 5. Senior with minimum 3.0 GPA and at least one parent of Hispanic heritage.
  • Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) - The HSF Scholar Program is designed to empower courageous young leaders of Hispanic heritage. The program helps ensure students achieve their higher education and career goals. Scholarship awards are based on merit; amounts range from $500 to $5,000, based on relative need among the Scholars selected. Learn more.  Application opens: January 1, 2022.  Deadline is mid-February
  • Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship.   Deadline Feb 28   90 $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors (scholarships also available for college students)  * Applicant must be a high school senior who works for Hy-Vee or subsidiary, or be the child of a full-, regular-, or part-time Hy-Vee employee, with employment beginning on or before 9/15/19
  • Iowa Environmental Health Association(IEHA) Scholarship. Must be a resident of the State of Iowa, a high school senior OR a non-traditional student returning to college in the State of Iowa and also Currently a full-time student at any college, university, or community college in the State of Iowa. Recipient must be majoring in Environmental Health or a related field.   $500 amount, Deadline Feb. 1.
  • Iowa Corn Growers Future of Iowa Scholarship    - Must be in a program of study that can equip the student to contribute to the agriculture industry of iowa. Student must be a child of an Iowa Corn Growers Association member.   Opens in Nov.  Deadline is Feb. 1.
  • Iowa Credit Union Warren A. Morrow Scholarship. Senior with account in their own name at a credit union that is affiliate with the Iowa Credit Union League (ask your credit union).  Deadline is Feb. 5.

  • Iowa Horse Council Scholarship. The IHC provides scholarships for qualified students who wish to pursue a career in the equine industry.  Students must be Iowa residents and current members in good standing of the Iowa Horse Council of one of its affiliated organizations. Deadline is Feb. 1.
  • Iowa National Guard Officers Auxiliary Student Scholarship ($1,000). Senior with a parent or grandparent affiliated with the Iowa National Guard.
  • Iowa National Guard Officers Auxiliary General Lawson Memorial Scholarship. Dependent or spouse of Iowa National Guard Member (current or retired) and pursuing licensure program, certificate program, CEUs, or non-degree education.
  • Iowa Newspaper Foundation Scholarship. Deadline is Feb 14. Seniors pursuing careers in newspaper industry.
  • The Iowa State Rifle and Pistol Association will award $1,000 scholarships to two Iowa high school students graduating in 2020 who have participated in a shooting club or team during high school. The application is available here. Applications must be postmarked by February 1, 2020.
  • Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholar. JRF Scholars receive up to $30,000 over four years to complement the financial aid they receive from their colleges or universities.  In addition, JRF covers expenses for Scholars to attend the annual four-day "Mentoring and Leadership Conference" in New York city and other regional events.  JRF sponsors and partners offer valuable career opportunities to JRF Scholars.  Opens Nov. 1.   Deadline is Feb. 1.

  • U. of Iowa Farm Scholarship-Iowa Basketball Lettermen Fund - Awarded to entering first-year students in the top one-fourth of their high school graduating class whose parents own and operate an Iowa farm. Financial need is considered. One of the awards will be granted each year in memory of Chris Street, an Iowa basketball player killed in a 1993 traffic accident.   • All Iowa Opportunity Scholarship. Senior and have FAFSA application and Iowa Financial Aid Application completed by March 1, 2020. This is a needs based scholarship, and students must qualify for at least some of the PELL Grant, per their FAFSA.  Students that have been in Foster care or the State Training School, or are children of deceased public safety workers, and/or participated in a federal TRIO or GearUp Program will receive priority. Complete the  Iowa Financial Application  by March 1st and have an eligible EFC of no greater than about $9,000. The maximum value for the 2019-20 school year was $4,644.   • Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa Scholarship   Community Foundation scholarships are offered annually for high school seniors.   Scholarships are for students who will be attending a college, university, trade school, or community college this fall. Most scholarships are for one year, but some are 2-year, some 4-year, and some are renewable. Each scholarship may have its own eligibility requirements, but there is only one common application to complete.  They award over a half million dollars ($500,000!) to over 250 students in Northeast Iowa.  Opens Jan 10.   • IAS Innovative Ag Services Scholarship. IAS will select six recipients to receive a $1,000 Ag Scholarship.  Parent or guardian must be an active patron of Innovative Ag Services, having purchased production supplies from the cooperative or sold grain to the cooperative within the past year.  Students must be a graduating high school senior who will be majoring in an agricultural related field of study.  Students must attend an accredited college or university.  Applicant must enroll as a full-time student.   • IHERF - Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation – Health Care Careers Scholarship  Senior seeking health care education.  Up to $3500 a year for two years. 60 scholarships are given.  The Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT) Certification program has been added to the qualifying programs.  The certification program will be awarded $1,000 and require one year of work after graduation for a company serving Iowa hospitals.  Deadline is March 30.

  • Marine Corps League, NE Iowa Detachment 1241 Scholarship. Seniors and ranks in top half of class.
  •  Mercy One Foundation Scholarship  -   Deadline is March 5. The requirements are that the student plans to major in a health-related career (medical or dental areas).   Must have a GPA of 3.00. Requires two letters of recommendation, HS Transcript, 300 word essay. Must be from one of these counties - Benton, BlackHawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Grundy, Fayette, or Tama.
  • Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance Scholarship. Senior who has battled cancer at any time in their life or those that have a sibling, parent, immediate family member or close friend that has or is battling cancer. Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher to apply.

    The National Catholic Committee on Scouting awards seven service scholarships totaling $20,000. If you are a service oriented Catholic Scout, who is a high school senior, has received the Ad Altare Dei, Light is Life or Pope Pius XII award, and earned the Eagle Scout, Summit or Quartermaster Award you may qualify.   • U. of Iowa Laverne Noyes Scholarship --Deadline is March 1. Awarded to undergraduate students with no prior degree who are U.S. citizens and are direct blood descendants of U.S. Army or Navy veterans who served in World War I as specified on the application. Financial need is required. A FAFSA must be completed as soon as possible after October 1 for the upcoming academic year.   • War Orphan Tuition Assistance  - Children of Iowa veterans killed in action following September 11, 2001 are eligible for up to $11,844.00 per year in tuition assistance at an Iowa post-secondary institution. Children qualify up to the age of twenty-six (26). Dependents of those killed in action prior to September 11, 2001 are eligible for $600 per year with a maximum of $3,000. Residency is required to receive this benefit.

  • Pork Producer Scholarship. Deadline is April 1. Senior in HS.  Major in agriculture-related field with emphasis on swine production.  Preference may be given to producer members.
  •  Zach Rahnavardi Memorial Scholarship  - Depending on whether the family offers it this year. For Don Bosco students only. Information on this scholarship is on Don Bosco Local Scholarship site  Deadline is ??.
  • Principal Financial Group's Phyllis R. Johnson Scholarship. Relative of a Principal employee and attending University of Iowa (renewable!). Have financial need. Deadline about April 4. 
  • Prospective Educator Scholarship. Senior and entering education.
  • Rent-a-Center "Make a Difference" Scholarship. Senior and dependent to an employee or customer of Rent-a-Center.  
  • U. of Iowa-Engineering First-Year Scholarship. Deadline April 1st. Senior attending University of Iowa and majoring in engineering. Composite ACT 28 OR 3.7 GPA.
  • Walmart Dependent Scholarships. Senior and dependent of Walmart employee.
  • "We the Students" Essay Competition. Opens Dec. 15. Deadline is April 15. For Grades 8 - 12. Essay is to be 500 to 800 words. 

 

Due in May:

  • American College Foundation Scholarship. All grades 9-12 can apply. 
  • Children's Cancer Connection Empowering Scholarship. Senior who has been directly affected by childhood cancer (including individuals who currently have or have had cancer before age 18 or a sibling of that individual), and has a 2.5 GPA.
  • Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers -  Must have at least a 2.50 GPA.  Deadline is May 15.  Must be pursuing an Agriculture degree.    Coalition Application
  • Friends of the Art Center-Raymond T. Forsberg and Marilyn S. Hurley Memorial- Scholarships (there are three scholarships/one application). Senior, planning to pursue a degree in the visual arts, and live within 35-mile radius of Waterloo.  Deadline about May 20
  • IOBA - Iowa Association of Building Officials.  One 4-year program student will receive $500 annually for up to 4 years ($2000 total) One 2-year program student will receive $500 annually for up to 2 years ($1000 total). Attend Architectural Tech or Building Tech/Construction Major at either Kirkwood, DMACC, Indian Hills, Iowa Western, Southeastern, Western Iowa Tech (will consider similar majors at other Community Colleges).   • Robert D. Blue Scholarship. Awarded to residents of Iowa who will attend an accredited Iowa college or university. Select an individual from your community (not a family member) that has demonstrated the responsibilities of being a citizen. Write a 500-word essay on what this individual has done for his/her community. Applicant is scored upon high school GPA, financial need, references, and their essay. Deadline is May 10
  • DMACC Foundation - Des Moines Area Community College Scholarships. Deadline is March 1 or May 1 at 4:00 pm
  • Hawkeye Inclusion Scholarship      -  Deadline is June 3  Hawkeye is committed to creating a culture where everyone is respected, appreciated, and valued.  As part of this commitment, the Inclusion Scholarship provides up to $1000 per year and opportunities for students to collaborate with peers to make valuable contributions that promote an inclusive campus climate.
  • Soil & Water Conservation District Scholarship. Senior living in Black Hawk County pursuing programs of study in any field of conservation or agriculture.  Deadline is May 1
  • Truck Center Companies Scholarship. Students entering accredited diesel technology or collision repair technology program. Scholarship is for $5,000! Due May 30.
