Who is Don Bosco?

St. John Bosco (Don Bosco)

Born: August 16, 1815; Died: January 31, 1888; Beatified: June 2, 1929; Canonized: April 1, 1934

St. John Bosco was an exceptional educator. His intelligence, common sense and profound spirituality led him to create a system of education that developed the whole person - body, heart and mind - while emphasizing growth and spirit.

He called his educational method the "preventive system" because he believed punishment would not be necessary if a student was placed in an environment which encouraged him to be the best he could be.

Through this method of learning, the student will acquire the positive, healthy and life-enhancing habits to last a lifetime.
