ISU, Iowa, & UNI Info
Iowa's Three Regent Universities
University of Iowa
Iowa State University
University of Northern Iowa
If you are interested in Iowa's public universities, take some time to explore their websites. Visit days are wonderful ways to learn more. Plan early to take advantage of scheduled dates ideally during your junior year.
Did you know? Some universities allow students to submit The Common Application. It allows you to fill out one application you can submit to multiple places.
Plan your coursework during high school to position yourself for admission. Use this chart to determine what you need to take for each school.
Determine Your RAI
The RAI (Regent Admissions Index) combines factors that strongly predict success at the Regent Universities: ACT or SAT test score, high school cumulative grade-point average, and the number of completed high school core courses. Check out the 2022 list of Don Bosco courses accepted for the RAI (the chart below also includes some of the college level courses that will count too). Students who achieve a score less than 245 will be considered for admission on an individual basis.
Use the RAI Calculator or figure your score manually:
Step 1 Multiply your ACT Composite Score times 3 ____________
Step 2 Multiply your current GPA times 30 ____________
Step 3 Multiply the total number of years taken:
Core classes taken/taking: _______ times 5 ___________
The total is your RAI INDEX ____________

If you are taking college-level courses while at Don Bosco, use these resources to see how they may transfer.
- We suggest you use this link to determine how Hawkeye courses transfer to UNI. UNI updated their General Education requirements in the summer of 2022.
- You may find these documents helpful in determining how Hawkeye credits transfer to Iowa State and the University of Iowa.
- Transfer in Iowa is another resource to see how community college/college credits transfer to our three state universities.
