Grants

Federal Grants

  • PELL Grant 
    • Awarded based on financial need per the EFC (Expected Family Contribution) calculation.
    • Must complete the FAFSA application which determines the EFC number. 
  • SEOG (Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant)
    • EFC of $0 to $1000 based on FAFSA application calculation. 
  • TEACH Grant 
    • Provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a high need field in a low income school.
    • There is no application for the TEACH Grant. Score in the top 25th percentile on college admissions tests and maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA . Students simply need to submit their FAFSA yearly, have a declared high-need area of study, and meet the academic (ACT or GPA) component. Recipients must sign an agreement to teach at least four years in an eight-year time frame after graduation.
    • After finishing their degrees, graduates must provide annual certifications that they are teaching in a high-need field and a low-income school or intend to do so. Those who do not meet this requirement will see their TEACH Grants be converted to unsubsidized loans.

State Grants

  • IMAGES Grant
    • Requires ethnic or racial status of African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino/Spanish, Alaskan Native or American Indian, Asian Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.
    • Financial need based on FAFSA. Awards are up to $2000.
  • All Iowa Opportunity Grant
    • Available for one year only.
    • Show financial need based on FAFSA. Have HS GPA of at least a 2.5.
    • Apply through the Iowa College Aid Commission.
  • Future Ready Iowa Grant (Last Dollar)
    • NEW HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES who enroll in a qualified program of study full-time or enroll in an eligible program part-time along with an approved work-based learning program for the fall immediately following high school graduation,
    • Must apply for all other available state and federal grants and scholarships and meet ongoing requirements.
